Galvalume Plus Standing Seam

Galvalume PlusTM is a type of coated steel sheet that essentially takes the standard Galvalume coating (a mix of aluminum and zinc) and adds a clear acrylic coating that is applied over both sides.

This significantly enhances its corrosion resistance and provides a smoother, more fingerprint-resistant  surface, making it particularly useful for applications like metal roofing.

Galvalume PlusTM can be roll formed dry with no lubricants and delivered to the jobsite with no oil on the surface. It’s resistance to fingerprinting during handling and installation helps in maintaining its “brand new” appearance longer. This makes it a excellent choice where appearance and longevity are important factors. It has the heat reflectivity characteristics of aluminum coatings with the formability and galvanic protection of cut edge characteristics of zinc coatings with the added protection of the acrylic layer.

Galvalume PlusTM  remains the most popular among south Texas homeowners due to its energy efficient properties.

Galvalume Plus is considered energy efficient because its metal composition allows it to reflect a large portion of the sun’s heat, significantly reducing the amount of heat absorbed by a roof, which translates to lower cooling costs, especially in hot climates; essentially acting like a reflective surface to keep buildings cooler during the day.

Pros Of Owning A Metal Roof

  • High Reflectivity

The aluminum-zinc alloy coating on Galvalume has excellent heat reflective properties, meaning most of the sun's radiant energy bounces off the surface instead of being absorbed.

  • Energy Efficiency

By reflecting heat, Galvalume roofs put less strain on air conditioning systems, leading to lower energy bills.

  • Suitable For Hot Climates

This feature is particularly beneficial in regions with high sun exposure where keeping buildings cool is crucial.

  • Durability

Metal roofs are known for their ability to withstand various extreme weather conditions like high winds, hail, rain, and even impact form objects like branches and debris

  • Fire Resistance

Metal roofs have excellent fire resistance properties as they are non- combustible and do not ignite. In the event of a fire, wandering embers are likely to extinguish upon contact with the metal surface, further enhancing the roof’s ability to protect the structure from potential fire damage.

  • Low Maintenance

Metal roofs are designed to be durable and long lasting, often requiring minimal maintenance compared to other roofing materials.

  • Low Life Cycle Cost

Metal roofs generally have a low life cycle cost due to their durability, longevity, and minimal maintenance requirements. While the initial investment may be higher than traditional roofing materials, the long-term benefits often make metal roofs a cost-effective choice.

  • Lightweight

A metal roof on average is typically around 50% lighter than a shingle roof and 75% lighter than concrete tile. This reduced weight can help decrease the overall structural load on the building, making it a more efficient roofing option in many cases.

US Steel’s New enhanced warranty provides coverage of 45 years for Galvalume AZ55 acrylic products. Galvalume products have been used since the 1960’s and studies consistently show a life expectancy of 60+ years for a professionally installed and well-maintained metal roof.
